Wildlife & Opportunities

The Y.O. Ranch is home to more than 10,000 animals representing over 60 exotic species, as well as abundant native game. Many of these animals roam freely throughout the Y.O.'s 40,000 acres of rugged Texas Hill Country terrain. The Y.O. is a world-renowned destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, conservationists, and hunters alike.
Wildlife Conservation
The Y.O.'s conservation program maintains a balanced ecosystem across its vast acreage. In such arid climate, water can be a deciding factor for both hunting and ranching. Fortunately, the Y.O. sits on top of two separate water sands, capable of providing all the water the Ranch, the animals, or landowners will need.
The Y.O.'s conservation program also involves experimental herds of many rare and endangered species. The Schreiners have established a Wildlife Management Committee to develop guidelines for the development and sensible harvesting of superior game animals. Many species now protected in their native lands — such as the Indian Blackbuck Antelope — thrive freely at the Y.O.
